disparage a Kachin Independence Army (KIA) leader this morning in Manmaw
(Bhamo) town, in Kachin State. The hand-written poster said, "Brig-Gen
Gun Maw has been assassinated". Hand-written posters with 9 facts
denouncing the KIA were put up around Manmaw, the second largest town in
Kachin State, on August 20. Those posters alleged the KIA was
responsible for destroying the peace in Kachin State. All posters were
put up in the name of "a resident of Manmaw district".

The Kachin Independence Organization (KIO) has rejected an offer of new peace talks from the Burmese government, according to a statement released on August 18. The government's offer was rejected because it did not include country-wide political dialogue but only talks with each individual ethnic armed group. Burmese government and KIO are greatly different on peace talk--- the government wants to have talks using the military-centered 2008 Constitution however the KIO wants to talk under the 1947 Panglong Agreement.[endtext]Kachin News Grouphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11845429211287814861noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7911603948998872914.post-78762532067120950712011-08-31T18:11:00.001+07:002011-08-31T18:11:38.176+07:00Kachin rejects Naypyidaw's Olive branch (Kachin)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LEPec-V6wTUendofvid [starttext] The Kachin Independence Organization (KIO) has rejected an offer of new peace talks from the Burmese government, according to a statement released on August 18. The Kachin people formed the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) under Kachin Independence Organization (KIO) on February 5, 1961, in Northern Shan State, with the goal of secession from the Union of Burma. However, that goal was changed into self-determination, in 1976. uring the 1961-1993 civil war with the Burmese government, over 3,000 KIA soldiers and over 30,000 Kachin civilians died, according to KIO officials. Over 7,000 Burmese soldiers also died.[endtext]Kachin News Grouphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11845429211287814861noreply@blogger.com0
